Coming off a crazy Revolt Music Conference in Miami, King Combs, and his CYN family has dropped some heat for those 90’s hip hop fans. These two tracks, “Playa Hate” and “Berry” give those old school Bad Boy vibes, as they should seeing as how CYN is following in the footsteps of hip hop icon Diddy. If you haven’t heard of CYN by now, you may be living under a rock. Their last hit,”Paid In Full“, a freestyle over the classic Eric B and Rakim record, has racked up over 1 Million views on YouTube. In the video you’ll find a cameo made by the legend Dapper Dan of Harlem, who also designed the fits for the video. If you couldn’t tell, these boys are bringing them bars, and that swag back to hip hop.
“Playa Hate“, my favorite out of these two new records, is a smooth track that’ll make you wanna dance; hit your Diddy Bop, and bust out a Harlem Shake. The “I Wanna Be Down” Brandy sample takes us all back to the 90’s when Puff Daddy, yes I said Puff Daddy, would put rappers over R&B records and create this soulful sound that took over hip hop. King Combs may have a hit on his hands with this one.
“Berry” is an even smoother record, if that was ever possible. The song is an ode to women like Halle Berry. King Combs and CYN come correct on this one, with heavy punch lines and a flow that completely demolishes the beat.
Salute to CYN for bringing back that 90’s hip hop sound in a very 2017 way. The future looks bright for this group, especially with a co-sign from Puff and the Bad Boy family. Sky’s the limit for CYN. They’re taking Hip Hop By Storm.
