Young artist Kyla Imani teams up with Jay Critch for her new single, “Sitting Up In My Room”. This song displays a story about the battle of not being able to control what’s on your mind. Especially when it comes to a new crush. The song is easily relatable to any teenage girl or young woman who is intrigued by someone, and isn’t used to certain feelings. It is a blend of Pop, and R&B with a taste of hip-hop.
Kyla Imani is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, actress, and performer. It isn’t difficult to tell that by her music, she is inspired and influenced by artists such as Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Alicia Keys, Rihanna and Kehlani. Her style shows off her realities of just being a “Regular Girl”. Repping for all of the young queens, Kyla makes sure to let it be known that she is staying to her true self.
In 2014, at the age of 14, Kyla thoroughly recreated Beyoncé’s “7/11” music video with her own style, and her own version of the song. When she uploaded it to YouTube, she was overwhelmed by the commendations. With over 1 million views, it was also noticed by MTV, and BET. Kyla Imani was dubbed a rising star with a very promising future. Kyla also released her first visual EP, named “Sweet Tea”, inspired by one of her biggest inspirations Beyoncé’s “Lemonade” project.
